The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), in collaboration with the Ramakrishna Mission (RKM), is empowering the women of the Sunderbans to promote the use of solar power. This pilot project has successfully created viable enterprises, targeting women entrepreneurs, who provide solar products as well as services in remote and interior villages.

Despite unprecedented growth in recent years, the world economy has not only failed to take care of the planet and its health, but also the basic needs of billions of its inhabitants, most of whom are condemned to live in slums with no safe water to drink, according to a new study released by a U.S.-based independent think tank.

A great international protest against the planned construction of two LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) terminals near Trieste were held on July 1 in this North Adriatic city. The two terminals are to be located in the open sea, near the sear boundary with Slovenia, while the other will be built inland.

U Trstu je 1. 7. 2006. održan veliki međunarodni prosvjed protiv planirane izgradnje dvaju LNG terminala pored Trsta, jednog na otvorenom moru, u neposrednoj blizini morske granice s Republikom Slovenijom, te drugog na kopnu. Prosvjed ocjenjujemo uspjelim i veoma značajnim, jer su ga zajedno organizirali predstavnici civilnog društva iz Slovenije, Italije i Hrvatske, te ugledni slovenski tjednik “Mladina“.
