29/02/2008 India has announced its budget for the next financial year. In a move to provide a major relief to the small farmers, the government has decided to cancel their entire debt. It may be noted that for past many years now the farmers have been committing suicides due to indebtedness and other related reasons.

Militari italiani in Afghanistan - da Peacereporter
06/02/2008 Mentre il Parlamento si appresta a votare il rifinanziamento delle missioni militari italiane, scoppia il caso dell'attacco condotto anche da militari italiani contro una presunta base di talebani nel distretto di Bakwa che ha provocato la morte di una decina di persone tra cui alcuni civili. La notizia, rilanciata in Italia dal sito Peacereporter, ha suscitato la secca smentita del sottosegretario Forcieri che ha accusato il sito di volere "condizionare la discussione sul decreto di rifinanziamento delle missioni militari". Intanto gli Stati Uniti si apprestano a inviare nel sud dell’Afghanistan un ulteriore contingente di dodicimila soldati e chiedono ai paesi Nato di "moltiplicare i loro impegni in Afghanistan". L'Afghanistan rimane il primo produttore di oppio al mondo con introiti per i Talebani stimati attorno ai 100 milioni di dollari, segnala oggi un rapporto dell'Unodc.
