30/10/2006 NASA:n tutkijat varoittivat Grönlannin jäätiköiden sulamisvauhdin kaksinkertaistuneen viimeisten viiden vuoden aikana. NASA:n tutkijat analysoivat ensimmäistä kertaa suoria, tarkkoja satelliittimittauksia. Tähän saakka Grönlannin jäätiköiden sulamisen mittaaminen on ollut epätarkkaa ja pohjautunut pitkälti nopeuteen, jolla jäätiköt uppoavat mereen.

27/10/2006 YK on käynnistänyt uuden ohjelman, jonka tarkoituksena on vähentää ilmastopäästöjä merkittävästi teollisuusmaissa, etenkin Itä-Euroopan siirtymätalouksissa. Mekanismi perustuu ajatukseen, että teollisuusmaat voivat hankkia "krediittejä" tai kiintiöitä toimeenpanemalla päästöjä vähentäviä hankkeita Keski- ja Itä-Euroopassa.

26/10/2006 Maan ystävät luovutti Enestamille tänään torstaina yli 420 ihmisen kuvat sisältävän Ilmastotekoja-julkaisun. Julkaisussa puhekuplan kanssa kuvatut ihmiset kertovat omilla kasvoillaan, mitä he toivovat Suomen päättäjien tekevän ilmastonmuutoksen torjumiseksi ja mitä he lupaavat itse tehdä ilmaston suojelemiseksi. Puhekuplakuvat on kerätty kesän ja syksyn 2006 aikana.

26/10/2006 EU ja Yhdysvallat neuvottelivat ilmastokysymyksistä Helsingissä 24.–25. lokakuuta. EU ja Yhdysvallat eivät ole käyneet ministeritason ilmastokeskustelua sen jälkeen, kun Yhdysvallat kieltäytyi ratifioimasta Kioton pöytäkirjaa. Yhdysvallat ei halua vieläkään sitoutua tiettyihin päästörajoituksiin.
