21/12/2006 Euroopan parlamentin kehitysasioiden komitea hyväksyi tänään päätöslauselman, jossa Intian hallitusta kehotetaan lopettamaan daliteihin eli "koskemattomiin" kohdistuva väkivalta ja laajalle levinnyt syrjintä. Komitea on huolestunut, koska poliisi kieltäytyy jatkuvasti rekisteröimästä ja ratkaisemasta daliteja vastaan tehtyjä rikoksia.

Pyrkimyksistä huolimatta venäjänkielisen vähemmistön asema on huono. Venäjänkielisiä on noin kolmasosa maan väestöstä. Heillä on huonot mahdollisuudet päästä työelämään ja vain rajalliset vähemmistöoikeudet.
