The report - The Damage Done: Aid, Death and Dogma - gives the examples of farmers suicides in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh as having being hit by reforms.

13/05/2005 A study made by a business life think tank EVA proves that confidence of the Finns on the trade union movement has strengthened. Ten years ago 43 per cent of the Finns regarded it as a drag against development. Now the percentage is 30. Two thirds of Finns are of the opinion that the society has too much surrendered to market forces and selfish profit seeking. Only 22 per cent believe that the present-form globalization could increase global welfare, the research shows.

È certo che questo confronto dovrà svolgersi nella reciprocità, perché se è vero che i non-musulmani hanno delle domande da porre ai musulmani, è vero anche il contrario. i musulmani oggi difficilmente accettano d'inserirsi in alcune logiche di assimilazione pura e semplice. è questa la differenza con le altre migrazioni. Queste ultime erano portatrici di culture tradizionali, spesse vinte dalla modernità. per i musulmani la loro cultura ha un riferimento religioso, che si pone come interlocutore dell'occidente. Questa è almeno una parte della visione contemporanea dell'islam.
