Ministarstvo okoliša prostornog uređenja i graditeljstva objavilo je na svojim Internet stranicama (www.mzopu.hr) sažetak studije utjecaja na okoliš za produljenje rada NE Pacs u Mađarskoj, stotinjak kilometara od Hrvatske granice. Zelena akcija smatra da je navedena studija nedostatna i stoga traži njenu dopunu.

The Open Society Justice Initiative, an operational program of the Open Society Institute (OSI), joins with Central European University (CEU) to announce the Justice Initiative Fellows Program for 2007-2009. The aim of the program is to support and expand a network of lawyers and activists working internationally on human rights-related issues. Established in 1996, the Justice Initiative Fellows Program has graduated 155 fellows from more than 20 countries.

Grassroots politics met an unexpected success last week when Dr. László Sólyom was elected Hungary's new president; a committed environmentalist, Sólyom's nomination was originally intended to be symbolic. The campaign grew from political disenchantment, and progress had been thought impossible by many as political parties seemed interested in keeping the population divided along ideological lines.

Si susseguono nel Kossovo le manifestazioni e gli appelli per il rilascio di Shqipe Hebibi, la funzionaria Onu kossovara rapita in Afghanistan lo scorso 28 ottobre con altri due funzionari Onu. Intanto il primo ministro Ferenc Gyurcsany ha annunciato oggi a Budapest che l'Ungheria ritirerà il suo contingente di 300 soldati dall'Iraq entro il prossimo 31 marzo. "Ci sentiamo in obbligo di restare sino allo svolgimento delle elezioni irachene, ma restare più a lungo è impossibile" - ha detto Gyurcsany.

Dve godine nakon sto su rumunska i madjarska strana zavrsile projekte o rekonstrukciji begejskog kanala, takva studija promovisana je i za spski deo Begeja i to zahvaljujući nadleznosti holandske vlade, a uz asistenciju Pokrajine. Plovno povezivanje Begeja sa Dunavom kostace 51 milion evra prema zakljuccima izradjene studije o rekonstrukciji Kanala Begej i upravljanja vodama sliva Begej - Tamis.

Internet service providers in Nigeria and Hungary will soon no longer be able to freely use a frequency meant for industrial, scientifc and medical bands. This is expected to result in about 10,000 familes being unable to afford internet access.

A new initative, called the Roma Education Fund, will provide funding to raise the educational status and performance of the Roma in East Europe and elsewhere. At present, few Roma children complete primary school and many are wrongly placed in schools for children with special needs.

ICTs are helping governments become more transparent and accountable to citizens, UNESCO has said, citing a recently released joint study> conducted with the Commonwealth Network of Information Technology for Development. But the 15-nation study also found new technologies "posing a challenge to traditional decision-making structures", the UN agency added.
