Greenpeace activists beamed huge slides on to the cooling tower of the National Thermal Power Corporation's (NTPC) power plant, that supplies electricity to Indian capital New Delhi, to brand the culprits of climate change. The message Stop Climate Change – Energy (r)evolution now! is for the Indian government to rethink its energy strategy before climate change starts affecting economic development of the country.

Intian hallitus on viimein myöntänyt, että Intiassa myytävissä virvoitusjuomissa on jäännöksiä tuholaismyrkyistä. Kansalaisjärjestön hälyttävästä raportista lähteneen kohun ja Coca-Colan ja Pepsin osittaisten myyntikieltojen jälkeen Intia on nyt asettamassa rajoja tuholaismyrkkypitoisuuksille virvoitusjuomissa. Indian NGO Toxics Link has brought out a report Mumbai: Choking on E-Waste - A study on the status of e-waste in Mumbai that reveals that Mumbai is not just the leading generator of electronic waste in the country, but also exports a large part of it to adjoining areas and also to Delhi. It is a detailed report on the Electronic and Electrical Equipments (WEEE) in Mumbai.

The Indian government has initiated the registration of plant varieties with the Protection of Plant Variety and Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPV&FRA) to provide them globally-recognised protection against piracy. The government plans to register 12 varieties of crop that will provide protection to farmers and farm communities to evolve, preserve and refine crop varieties.

Yhdysvaltain ja Intian välinen ydinteknologiasopimus horjuttaa YK:n ydinsulkusopimusta, pelkäävät rauhanliikkeet. Kauppasopimus viimeistellään tänä keväänä, ja USA:n demokraattienemmistöinen kongressi on jo antanut sille siunauksensa. Ydinsulkusopimus kieltää yhteistyön siihen liittymättömän valtion kanssa, mutta Intia halutaan nyt nähdä poikkeustapauksena, uusin PAX-lehti uutisoi.

Intian lapsista jopa lähes 80 prosenttia kärsii raudan puutteen aiheuttamsta anemiasta, samoin kuin yli puolet alle 50-vuotiaista vaimoista. National Family Health Surveyn tekemän tutkimuksen mukaan anemia on yleisintä Assamin osavaltiossa, jossa yli 70 prosenttia 15-49-vuotiaista naisista kärsi anemiasta. Tutkijoiden mukaan naisten heikko asema, huono ravinto ja kallis terveydenhuolto selittävät anemian yleisyyttä.
